A little introduction about Herts Hog Roasts: we’re a family‑run team passionate about great food, great service and creating memorable events, from intimate garden parties to large‑scale celebrations.
Hi, I’m Karen, owner of Herts Hog Roasts. I started the business with my husband Steve around seventeen years ago, after being completely wowed by a hog roast at a friend’s 40th birthday party in Hemel Hempstead.
The moment I walked into the garden, the aroma was irresistible — that slow‑roasting pork turning over the flames became the focal point of the whole evening. Watching it gently rotate, hearing the crackle, smelling the sweetness… I couldn’t wait for serving time. And when it finally arrived, it didn’t disappoint: crispy golden crackling, succulent tender pork, sage and onion stuffing, and apple sauce. Pure perfection.
Right there and then, I knew hog roast catering in Hertfordshire would be my next adventure — and I’ve never looked back.
I previously worked full‑time as a chef, so I’m completely at ease with all aspects of catering — from intimate parties and homemade canapés to full a la carte menus. Whatever your event, I’m never daunted by guest numbers and genuinely relish the buzz and challenge of delivering high‑quality food, whether it’s a relaxed garden gathering or a lavish wedding banquet.
Although cheffing has been the heart of my career, I’ve dabbled in a few things along the way — including running a successful bouncy castle business for ten years. But after that unforgettable hog roast experience, I knew exactly where my nose (and passion) wanted to lead me: hog roast catering in Hertfordshire.
Over the years, I’ve built an amazing team of chefs, catering assistants and waitresses who have everything it takes to make your event memorable for all the right reasons. They’re friendly, approachable, and genuinely enjoy working with Steve and me. They all have weekday careers, but they love the energy of outside catering, the atmosphere of events, and the thrill of wedding days. Yes, I pay them — but I can honestly say they’re here because they enjoy what we do.
