Herts Hog Roasts have been wowing people at hog roasts around Hertfordshire and the surround areas for many years now and are known for our mouth watering spit roasts as well as other meats we cook such as spit roast lamb, turkey, and chicken or even roasted sirloin of beef. Whatever meat or even meats you fancy, we will cook and serve with a medley of salads and potatoes and provide you with a meat feast to leave you and your guests well and truly full filled.
Usually we are asked to cook a whole hog roast in Goff’s oak or spit roast in Hertford for a hundred or so guests. Our hogs are absolutely amazing. They are out door bred and free to roam the fields and woods and this makes such a difference to the meat. It is lean, moist and just full of flavour and that is why we have so many repeat bookings, year after year.
We have actually introduced a new menu…. Pulled pork and slaw and it is just to die for!!
We have taken a twist on the old Southern American pulled pork and spiced it up a little. It is going down so well that we are receiving phone calls asking for the recipes from guests that have take our cards at functions where we have served this style of hog roast catering. Other telephone enquires simply ask for the pulled pork menu and more importantly are you still available?
We are expecting to be busier than last year and already we have some dates in the summer where we are fully booked and it is only January.
So for this menu we will be using whole shoulders of pork with the bone which have been rubbed with paprika in to give that great flavour. We will start the cooking process the night before your event and slow roast the pork on a lower heat for a much longer period. During the cooking process the meat which literally fall apart and break down. When we arrive at your event the meat will continue cooking until about an hour before serving time.
This is the great bit and really is tantalising the taste buds of people up and down Hertfordshire and London with this lip smacking feast.
Once we have pulled all the meat from the bone and mixed with the juices we will add our blend of fresh mint, chilli and red wine vinegar and mix this in with the pulled pork. I won’t lie at this point it just looks like a pile of shredded meat with bits of red chilli and green mint thrown in… But that’s what it is and it is out of this world. Full of flavour with a kick of chilli… Absolutely amazing.
As you wait in the queue we will warm your pitta bread on the hot tray and then fill with the pulled pork and our own homemade apple coleslaw which has a kick of cayenne pepper to give that all important chilli kick to the dish.
This menu is creating a stir and can be served with an array of salads and hot new potatoes if you like for an informal meal at any event.
Herts Hog Roasts continue to wow your guests with our array of delicious menus. We are in such demand this summer so it looks like it will be another busy one. Let’s hope for some good weather.
