The party season is all but over now as the colder dark and dreary days have taken hold and here at Herts Hog Roasts we have found ourselves with a week end off. This is actually our first weekend without hog roast catering in Hertfordshire since early April and we really do need a week end off to re charge the batteries.
We are passionate about food and this is one reason we have been catering for more years than we can remember ( That doesn’t mean we are old – we started young !!) and kind of fell into hog roast catering by chance when we were at a friend’s fortieth Birthday party. We were wowed by the whole experience… The aroma that filled the garden on that summer evening messed with our taste buds and we were drooling at the thought of our first hog roast in Hemel Hempstead and were not disappointed. It was splendid (not as good as ours are now but it was lovely).
So today I had a day out with a friend and our children at the Good food show at Olympia in London.
We had a lovely day, visiting many stands and tasting plenty of wine, vodka and various liqueurs as well as sampling culinary delights from around the world.
A high light was watching the Hellmans sandwich competition… It was the final and two great sarnies which had beaten off two thousand other entries had made it to the live final. The two contestants were on stage and a celebrity chef prepared their creation before a tasting session decided on the winner. I have made the sandwich at home and it certainly is a well deserved winner.
If you have a passion for food and wine the good food show is a must … great day out.
I came back with a bag full of goodies and treated the wife to some fine cheese and a bottle of slow gin which was great…. But did not last long in our house!
We finished the day off with a few pints at our local pub when we arrived back in Hemel Hempstead before heading off home for a lovely meal and a bottle of wine.
A well deserved day off I think
