We are from Hemel Hempstead and tend to operate any where in the South East of England. Although many of our functions are in Hertfordshire, we find we are in London one day and Essex the next day.
If you are in any of the home counties, London, Kent, or as far as Northamptonshire we will quite happily travel to you.
We can serve as many guests as you have friends, it’s not really a problem. Most parties have about 100 guests which is great as a pig tends to feed 100 people really comfortably. However if you are having a smaller party, although the pig will feed about 100, we will carve off all the meat not eaten and place on platters for you to put in the fridge or freeze for another day.
If you are having 200 or 1000 guests, its still no problem. We have quite a few machines and plenty of chefs that take care of the bigger events
Of course you can, we offer a DIY option for all you budding chefs. You can either hire the machine on its own and provide your own pig ( but please don’t use a family pet pig ) or we can supply the machine with a racked and scored pig with full instructions of how to cook it.
Yes , no problem. We offer various menu’s that you can choose a variety of different meats. Obviously the cost will go up as we will supply two machines and an extra chef. but is is nice to have a variety. We can actually cook you three different meats on one spit if you are having fewer guests and want a good selection
It really does vary, we base all our menu’s on 100 guests for a pig or 40 guests for lamb as this is how many each will serve. obviously as well, we take into account when the event is, or what time we are serving and the occasion. If it is a small private party we need less waitresses but at a wedding, we provide enough waitresses to cope and don’t try to cut corners or the service will be affected.
As a rough idea you will pay about £5.50-£6.50 per guest for a private party and from £17.50 for a wedding which will include waitresses, crockery ect
No, the price that is on your quote is the price you pay. We will send you a sales receipt when we receive your completed booking form and deposit and we will stick to it. If the price of pork doubles between your quote and your party, (and it has before), well keep the price the same.
Just invite all your friends and relax. We provide everything we need. We do need a power supply though. The only thing we ask, is you make room for us to get to where you are having your party. Please clear a space through the garage if we need to come through it or clear the path from the back gate to the back garden.
We really don’t need much space at all. 3m x 3m is enough for a pig in a bun meal, if you are having salads and puddings give us a little more space for the extra trestle table, so allow about 4.5m x 3m.
Don’t worry about the weather. we’ve seen it all and coped. We supply catering marquees for all events as you can never rely on the weather. we also can put heaters up so that as your guests queue they wont get too cold
Yes, we can provide everything from a pig in a bun to canapés, starters, different meat options, desserts and cheese boards, teas, coffees, mints and biscuits. We can also provide a evening buffet, BBQ. Have a look at our extensive menu options and tailor make your own menu. What ever you decide on, we can make it happen.
Yes, our butcher sources the meat from farms in England, mainly the Suffolk area. They are free range, born, bred and reared outdoors and are free to roam about. We can also offer you an organic option. This will cost more though.
Don’t invite them !! ONLY JOKING !!!!! We can provide vegetarian options. We normally offer a really good ploughmans lunch and it really has got every thing on it and goes down a treat. We often find though, the meat eaters pinch the veggies dinner if they see them so we tend to keep them hidden from view
Yes, we supply the correct amount of staff for each menu. If you are having a pig in a bun for 100 you only need the chef and assistant we add extra chefs assistants for bigger functions and we allow more than enough waitresses for weddings and more elaborate events to ensure the service is swift and professional. This is all built into our costs, so sometimes you may look at a menu price and compare it to another quote, but bare in mind, we will have the man power to give you the service you need and we wont drop the price to cut out the staff needed to save a few pounds. At the end of the day, although we want your day to be a success, we also have a very proud reputation to keep and want to keep it that way
Yes we are, we are registered with our local environmental health authority, we also hold:
NVQ level 2 in food processing and cooking, catering and hospitality
CIEH level 2 in food safety and catering
and also have [public liability insurance through NCASS
are machines are also CE standard and hold test certificates
As well as these standards, we also continue to train and train and provide all our chefs and assistants to our high standards
A pig will take about six hours to cook, a little longer for a really big one. A lamb will take about four hours.
We arrive with plenty of time so we can get the pig cooking and time everything so we serve when you want us to.
However each meat is different and the weather can change cooking times, so very occasionally they can take a little longer. But we’ve done this now for a long time and with the help of a few attachments that can speed things up we tend to get things right most of the time.
