Tonight, Herts Hog Roasts are delivering pulled pork for supper at a gig in Harpenden in Hertfordshire.
A huge crowd is expected tonight to watch some great local bands and acts at a charity function and Herts Hog Roasts have offered to provide the pulled pork for refreshments at about nine o’clock.
Normally when we cook a hog roast we always cook fresh on site as we believe this is the whole idea of a hog roast…. Today we started cooking the shoulders of pork at about mid day… we have a rub of paprika, a blend of herbs and black pepper and gently season the shoulders of pork rubbing the herbs and spices into the scored shoulders. They will be slow roasting for about nine hours in our hog roast machines. The meat that is produced is unbelievable… It is so well cooked that it just falls off the bone and the meat and juices produce the most mouth watering flavour that will leave your taste buds tingling with excitement!!

Later in the day we loaded the machines into our vans and set off for Harpenden. The aroma of the roasting pork with the sweet pungent smell of the herb rub filled the van and we were almost on a high for the twenty minute ride.
We arrived at the venue and set up a serving station by the bar. We had serving tables laid with crisp white linen and gleaming stainless steel chafing dishes. The hog roast machines were wheeled into place and our skilled chefs forked the pork off the bone and mixed with the juices that the shoulders were basting in all day. We then mixed in the fresh mint and chilli and started warming the pitta breads on the hog roast machine hotplates.
While the pork and marinade was being mixed and the breads were warming, i was busy shredding the white and red cabbage, slicing the crunchy crisp apples and grating fresh carrots which i then mixed with a crème fraiche and mayonnaise and heaped in a couple of spoonfuls of cayenne pepper to give the apple slaw a kick and a bit of zing.
By half past eight, we were ready to serve and were waiting for the last band before the interval to finish before we were to treat the crowds who were dancing and singing to a meat feast they will remember for a long time.
The service was so swift and everyone was served in time before the next band came on after the interval. We were inundated with compliments of how fantastic the pulled pork was and many people were asking for our business cards and saying they will be calling us for a party later in the year. We have actually already taken a booking for an eighteenth birthday party in June for a young lady who was at the event.
